Customer Application Specialist

The position is within the department Customer & Application Response Center in the Innovation Center. The focus of the Innovation Center is supporting the realization of the Food Innovation strategy of Avebe. The department is developing new value propositions and applications providing Avebe a sustainable position in the Food market.


Job description            

The Customer Application Specialist is a Food application expert with a clear focus on the development unique value propositions and new applications in the field of bakery and snacks. This position mainly focus on application research, customer support, troubleshooting and problem resolution to support the food sales team, the strategy to consolidate and develop existing business and to gain new business. This position requires travel (20-30%).


Key taks and responsibilities

  • Work closely with sales team and field technical service specialists to provide technical solution to customers;
  • Plan, organize and conduct lab work and customer trials to support and fulfill commercial strategies coordinating with customers, sales team and field team as needed;
  • Interpret and report the research results;
  • Identify the market trends and customer needs to translate in new application concepts with high added value;
  • Provide high quality sales tools;
  • Identify and protect IP opportunities;
  • Support the implementation of innovation projects with customers;
  • Update, expand and secure expertise within the department;
  • Participate in technical seminars and conferences to promote Avebe and to catch up the advanced knowledge from the field;
  • Provide application-oriented training for sales team, distributors and customers.


Training & experience   

  • MSc degree or higher in Food technology, Food Chemistry;
  • 3 + year experience in application research or production in bakery and/or snack industry;
  • Knowledge and experience of hydrocolloids used in food is desirable;
  • Fluent in English both written and spoken;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Excellent ability to build and develop collaborative working relationships across all levels of internal and external organizations;
  • Ability to travel and on short notice.
