Where will you be working?          

Avebe started as “Aardappelmeel Verkoop Bureau” in 1919. At that time only to improve sales for several independent potato starch cooperatives. Now, a 100 years later, we are continuously producing and improving solutions based on potato starch and proteins for food, industry and animal feed. The Avebe cooperative has even grown to a global market leader in potato starch.



Within the HR department, we work together to help develop Avebe's vital, learning and performing organization in various areas of attention. The HR business partners are facilitated by specialists in different areas like for example Compensation & Benefits, vitality, recruitment, learning & development and the HR Service Center. Due to an internal promotion, we are looking for a dynamic and strategic HR Business Partner. In this position you will work in a team with 4 other HR Business Partners, each responsible for a specific business unit within Avebe. In this job, you will report to the HR Program Manager.


This position is for the business unit Innovations and Commerce (approx. 175 employees). We work with a large number of high educated professionals in both business units. You will work in an International team with different cultural backgrounds. Therefore, a good understanding of the English language is a must. Your work location is the Innovation Center in Groningen. This is a modern workplace where collaboration is a central topic. In this building you will find the laboratory, a pilot plant, offices and a customer experience center. We look for collaboration outside the organization as well. There is a good connection with students, researchers, start-ups and high school/universities on the Zernike Campus. Together we create more value!

Tasks and responsibilities         

As a HR Business Partner you have an advisory role and your own focus area within the organization. You will work on various interdisciplinary projects in the field of HR, change and culture. You have a clear vision on HR and you have the capacity to act as a solid discussion partner for the organization. In this position you are responsible for proactively supporting managers in various HR issues. You are part of the Management team within your own business unit and a solid sparring partner for this Management team. You will be part of a very enthusiastic, driven and customer-oriented team. Everyone is highly motivated to continuously improve. Based on your experience in change management, culture and project management, you will deliver a large contribution to Avebe's strategic objectives.


Other responsibilities are:

  • The realization of the HR annual plan and its KPI’s;
  • Contributing to the HR policy and strategic HR programs such as Strategic Personnel Management;
  • Translating the HR strategy into implementation including the monitoring of this strategy for your business unit;
  • Anticipate on developments and trends and translate these into HR objectives and projects for the organization;
  • Advising and supporting management in the implementation of the HR policy;
  • Initiating and guiding organizational developments, change processes (in consultation with the business) and process improvements;
  • First point of contact for complex (HR) issues, ensuring that various interested parties are involved;
  • Advisor of the Works Council for the relevant business unit.


Education and experience   

  • A relevant Bachelor or Master degree (business administration is a plus);
  • At least 5 years of experience in a comparable HR position;
  • Experience in leading organizational change (in an HR role);
  • Experience with project management;
  • Good understanding of the Dutch and English language, spoken and written.
